This building is an example of a complex program with a stringent budget designed at a time when the construction market was transitioning rapidly to today's high rates.
Despite the limited budget, Ms Alomar still managed to infuse the building with an aesthetic that paid close attention to detail, lighting and material quality. Standard materials (such as stucco and paint) were used in creative ways, and new materials (such as zinc panels) were researched and implemented that were very price competitive with standard alternates allowing us to create a unique and elegant building.
The plan is exceptionally functional eliminating corridors and most other unprogrammed spaces to reduce cost and ultimately achieve a space efficiency of 90%.
